The New Laser Technique for Vaginal Atrophy
MonaLisa Touch™ is a vaginal rejuvenation treatment (not to be confused with aesthetic treatments) based on a special CO2 fractional laser, specifically created for this particular application.
Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedure
This mini-invasive laser-assisted procedure is performed in a medical practice, on an outpatient or day-hospital basis; it does not involve incisions or sutures and it requires few minutes for every session.
The treatment DOES NOT usually require anaesthesia; however, if the patient prefers, an anaesthetic cream can be used.
Results can be noticed after the first session; normally we recommend a full cycle of 4-5 sessions 45-60 days apart. However, the number of sessions can change according to the level of vaginal atrophy to be treated.
The Benefits of Vaginal Rejuvenation
The laser’s stimulation action on collagen improves the state of the mucosa that lines the vaginal walls and promotes rehydration and functional recovery of the vaginal tissues.
Thanks to its action on factors that determine dryness, fragility and loss of mucosal elasticity, this regenerating treatment can eliminate troublesome itching, irritation and pain, which become particularly acute during intercourse. As a result, most of the treated patients report a substantial improvement in their quality of life and in their sexual life.
The CO2 fractional laser allows effectively treating even cases of loose vagina, caused by loss of mucosal tone, if local muscles or vaginal prolapse are not involved.
This stimulation and rejuvenation process involves cells and tissues and takes a few weeks to be completed. Results will be more noticeable approximately one month and a half after the end of the treatment.
Recovery and Minimal Risks Following MonaLisa Touch™ Treatment
Risks for patients treated with MonaLisa Touch™ are minimal. Most women report temporary side effects, slight redness or swelling: some discomfort that usually disappears after one or two days of rest.
During the healing process, it may be recommended to avoid lifting weights or some activities, such as taking a hot bath, or physical exercise. Your doctor will give you specific indications for a speedy recovery.
